The driver downloaded from launchpad needs to be installed by: dpkg -i Downloads/bcmwl-kernel-source_6.30.223. The driver can be compiled from its sources provided at the Broadcom Homepage or from Launchpad. The kernel module bcmwl since version 6.30.223.141 can be used as a driver for the PCE-AC68.

latest Asus drivers installed (Broadcom 7.35.351.0) My machine specs are: - Asus Z170-AR. Lspci -nn 82:00.0 Network controller : Broadcom Corporation Device (rev 02)Īnd is compatible with Linux since at least Ubuntu 12.04. NOTE: - not a range issue, every mobile device can pick up the 5GHZ network from where my PC is, and this thing has a 3 pronged aerial too. The Asus PCE-AC68 is a PCI-Express card which bases on the BCM4360 chipset. Per ASUS's drivers, the PCI ID for the device is 14e4:43a0.

It would appear (from the photos provided to the FCC and those providedĭirectly from ASUS) that this device is identical to the ASUS PCE-AC66. This device is using a Broadcom BCM4360 (PCIe, 3x3 802.11b/g/n/ac)įor maximum PHY rates of 1.3Gbps on the 5GHz band (11ac) and 600Mbps on the 2.4GHz band (11n w/ QAM256 ). No I'm not going to change my wiring, unless you're an electrician with a plasterer and a painter and decorator for a mate and will do the work for peanuts. For a list of all currently documented Broadcom chipsets with specifications, see Broadcom. Homeplugs do not get on with my house wiring for some reason and using them I get about 1/20 of the speed in that room vs what I get wired to the router, which I can't use permanently because the wires have to go across hallways. Yes, yes, homeplugs potentially for some people are better. I do not have any problem with the wireless network with other devices. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the network adapter to try and fix the problem but it doesn't seem to help.

If the card is already installed and thinks it is an ASUS wireless card, how is installing TP Link software going to help?

I've tried installing the TP Link drivers from the supplied CD, and it seems to do its little install thing but doesn't ask me for anything which seems odd, then just says its finished. The wireless card is definitely on, and it can see my network - however when I try to connect it thinks about it for a while, decides "you cannot connect to this network" or whatever the windows 10 message is, and then the network disappears from those available for about 5 seconds. I can't actually see what it says on the card itself since it's close to the graphics card and under the massive CPU fan and I can't get my head close enough to see without taking it out, which I'd like to avoid!

The strange thing is, the device shows up as an ASUS PCE AC68 whereas the PCSpecialist shop shows it as a TP Link Archer T9E - and TP Link software was supplied. I am however having a problem with the wireless card.* I went for the fast WIRELESS 802.11 AC1900 1,300Mbps/5GHz, 600Mbps/2.4GHz PCI-E CARD in my order. I've just had my nice shiny new PC and it's very nice and shiny and new in general. Confusion reigns in the robwal852 household.
